This Texas girl recently spent a week in the Big Apple. It was cold and rainy, but that didn't stop me from soaking up much needed inspiration. There's something so magical about New York City -- you can't help but tap into your inner mogul and want to make major moves. Jay is absolutely right -- if you can make it in the city that never sleeps, you truly can make it anywhere.
For the next 2 days, I will be sharing with you some tips on how to tap into your own empire state of mind.
Here's your sixth tip --
Get off your couch.
I had the most amazing day in Brooklyn. I started my day off with an Ashtanga practice at Brooklyn Yoga Club. I then mosied on over to have lunch at Govinda's Vegetarian, where I blown away by the deliciousness of the food. I spent some time at Greenlight Bookstore and stopped by Hungry Ghost for almond chai latte and a chocolate croissant. I then walked over to the new Workroom Social space and spent the afternoon there. I drank in the activity and just really enjoyed being out of my element. I greeted the day with an open mind. I had no clue what was going to happen and I decided to not control the moment. The best decision ever.
New Yorkers stay active. How could they not? The city has so much to offer -- museums, parks, restaurants, shopping, etc. There is always something going on in the city that never sleeps. There is something for everyone.
YT Pro Tip: Put on your explorer hat and get to work, even if you live in a small town. See what's going on in your neighborhood. If there really is nothing, plan a day trip to the nearest big city. Carve out time on your calendar. Make exploration a priority. Let your city/state inspire you. Organize a staycation at your local bed and breakfast. Please note you don't have to spend a lot of money to do this. In fact, set a challenge to see how much you can save. Get your creative juices flowing.
There is so much out there to see, even if you don't have the luxury of getting out of town. Make your friends and family a part of it, too. You can be a tourist in your city, even if you've lived there your whole life. It's all about the way you frame it.
Your soul is rooting for you and so am I.
